Crystal Palace vs Brighton Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Date: 05 April Kickoff Time (UK): 15:00 Venue: Selhurst Park Selhurst Park will host Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. The Seagulls come into this fixture with an almost unblemished record, but they will know this will be competitive. Judging by the odds given to us by online sports betting sites – they tend to agree. For the Eagles, a win will get them even closer to achieving a top half finish. I expect them to take the game to their visitors, which will likely result in an incredibly competitive Premier League tie that we can all enjoy.

Crystal Palace Current Form – WLWWW

It is difficult to see where the Eagles are going to likely have any concerns here. They have put themselves, once again, in the final four of the FA Cup and are still looking to finish in the top half of the Premier League.

They have so many players in form at the moment, and unlike many other sides at this stage of the season, they are not totally reliant on specific individuals to carry them through.

Momentum is a massive part of the game, and given what Palace currently have – Selhurst Park will likely be bouncing on Saturday afternoon.

Key Players to Watch

  • Eberechi Eze: He has been absolutely instrumental for Palace. Scoring goals, assisting goals and playing with an incredible confidence has seen Eze enjoy another incredible season. His accuracy in front of goal is often underestimated, but if Brighton give him space – they may have to pay a hefty price.
  • Ismaila Sarr: Sarr is another player making incredible contributions for Palace at the moment. His presence upfront only adds to the depth available at Selhurst Park – keep an eye on him here.
  • Eddie Nketiah: He has had to fight for a place in this Palace side – which itself speaks volumes of the competitive nature of the team. He is an incredible attacking option and will no doubt be looking to find a more competitive spot in the starting XI with a chance here.

Crystal Palace Team News

Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure are still struggling with a knee injury. Joel Ward hasn’t yet fully recovered from his calf strain, but besides that, Palace are back to a full complement.

Brighton Current Form – WWWWD

They would have been frustrated with their recent performances – especially getting knocked out of the FA Cup against Nottingham Forest. They have struggled to get into full flow in recent weeks – and if Palace start the game positively, Brighton might struggle to get a foothold.

Key Players to Watch

  • Carlos Baleba: A strong and athletic midfielder, Baleba has shown a positive propensity for carrying the ball forward with purpose and breaking opposition defensive lines. His versatility allows for him to be used as a deeper option for Brighton as well, but at 20 years old, his potential should excite all at the Amex.
  • Joel Veltman: Defensibly he is one of the more robust options at Brighton. He is a versatile player who is able to drive his team forward while also breaking down potential threats. He isn’t always someone claiming the headlines, but don’t misplace his valuable contribution.
  • Yankuba Minteh: His ability to beat defenders one-on-one and drive his team forward dangerously make him a threat from anywhere. He is an aggressive player who has settled into life in the Premier League with absolute ease. He is certainly one to watch.

Brighton Team News

Brighton is still having to contend with a mammoth list of injury concerns. Adam Webster is still sidelined with a hamstring strain, Igor Julio, James Milner and Mats Wieffer are likely to miss out due to muscle injuries and Tariq Lamptey is still struggling with his ankle injury.

Predicted Line-Up

  1. Crystal Palace: 4-2-3-1

Henderson, Richards, Lacroix, Guehi, Munoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell, Sarr, Eze, Nketiah.

  2. Brighton: 4-2-3-1

Verbruggen, Hinshelwood, Van Hecke, Veltman, Estupinan, Baleba, Ayari, Minteh, Mitoma, Rutter, Welbeck.

Suggested Bets

  1. Both Teams to Score (Yes): Both teams have shown a propensity to attack and given their recent goalscoring record – this could be the betting angle for the weekend. 5/10 (1.5) with Betfred

  2. Over 2.5 Goals: These two teams have averaged 2.83 goals from their last six encounters – backing over 2.5 goals is certainly another betting option to back a high number of goals in this match. 7/10 (1.7) with Midnite.

  3. Crystal Palace (Win): Back the home win here. They are playing better football at the moment and given their momentum – I think they win this. 31/20 (2.55) with Betway

Value Bets

  1. Eberechi Eze (Anytime Goalscorer): He is playing with incredible confidence and momentum at the moment – we are backing him to find the back of the net. 24/10 (3.4) with Kwiff

  2. Crystal Palace + Both Teams to Score: Combine these two betting suggestions for maximum value. 36/10 (4.6) with William Hill.

  3. Correct Score (2:1): These two sides don’t have too much between them. Given the attacking abilities, goals are a guarantee, and the odd one might be the separating factor. Back Palace to just edge it. 8/1 (9.0) with Star Sports.

Prediction: Crystal Palace to Win

Palace are playing with incredible confidence and momentum at the moment. They come up against a talented Brighton outfit here – but we think their aggressive attacking approach might be too much for the Seagulls.

Back the home win.
